Inoue Butsudan

Hikone Butsudan is a traditional Japanese craft with a 350-year history, which has its roots in the production of armour. There are seven major skills employed in the production process. You can try your hand at gold leafing, maki-e art, and lacquering, as well as watching the craftsmen at work. In the handicraft workshop, you can try traditional Japanese techniques not available elsewhere, and in the artisan workshop, you can watch traditional skills at first hand. Reservation required.
